How to Lose Desktops and Alienate Hardware

Had a Friday update planned, but being an internet superhero just hit a snag.

Like many computer-savvy idiots, I removed part of my computer case so that my hardware won’t run the risk of burning down the neighborhood.

And then I dropped a cup of water onto my video card and motherboard.  While it was running.

Had I heeded Russia Hackteam’s suggestion to use the Russian Farms Grade-A Potato as my computer processor, it would have sponged the water with its starchy goodness.  But hey, here we are.  Somehow, my video card (the only valuable piece of hardware) survived, as did the hard drives (my life’s existence).

So while this Freemason conspiracy hinders my use of cyberspace, I’m happy to report I’m still here. Let’s celebrate with the aptly-named, totally-awesome trailer for the upcoming action title Wet.

Doubtful it will be the gaming equivalent of Kill Bill, but it won’t be for a lack of effort.

Aww, I am sorry to hear about your computer trouble. Don’t you hate it when it’s a freak accident that screws it up instead of the other tweaking around that should break it (i.e. overclocking, etc)?

I’m also having computer trouble lately, although it is a 4 year old computer… from DELL.

Therein lies your main problem–Dells suck. ;p We have them at my work, and they lag and BSOD on us all the time. Granted that they are probably two years older than yours and using Windows 2000 or XP, and part of it could be all the extra software that gets put on it for security and whatnot (thanks NMCI), but I have not been too impressed with Dells in my own personal home use experience. Don’t remember how their tech support was, though.

I can recommend HP’s, since I have not had a whole lot of trouble with them and their online chat tech support is awesome. I’ve had the laptop I’m currently using for about three years or so, and it’s still going strong.

well mine was fine a year ago too, it’s just this year it’s started to crap out.

the FUCK Celia…OC’ing isn’t bad for your PC, hop off.

Can you people understand English? Where did I say that overclocking is bad? (However, knee-jerk reactions to stuff that was not said anywhere is.) Jeez. I’m saying that making drastic modifications to your system has MORE of a potential to break your computer than doing “normal” things like using word processors or whatnot. Just like putting in a non-stock engine has MORE of a potential to break your car than just driving it for your daily commute.

I spilt a glass of water on my computer too! Coincidence?!
It wasnt much so I sat it in front of a heater for 25 hours. My hands are broken/dislocated so my friend plugged it back in. It was working fine, and then he pulled the plug out randomly and it wouldnt turn on after that…. Just my luck. Seriously, worst luck this past 3 months. I swear I’m going to be diagnosed with a crippling illness soon and wouldnt be suprised.

It was the motherboard or the CPU, so i replaced them and now I have a top tier computer, I was meaning to upgrade soon anyway so it was okay.

Just telling you my story because its a real coincidence :o
